What was once a Vaudeville house, the Palace Theatre has since switched their live programming to other live entertainment. It opened in 1927, and after years of public service, it was restored and re-opened in 1983.

 

With a rich history, there’s a lot to learn about the theater, which is why you can register for a tour; admission is just $5 per person. On the tour, you can check out the theater, lobby spaces, Poli Club, dressing rooms, and the venue’s hidden backstage murals. Guests can even take a walk across the stage (when available).

The Palace Theatre dedicates itself to empowering and inspiring their community to self-express and embrace Arts Education and lifelong appreciation of the Performing Arts.

 

Their mission is to “to engage, motivate, and energize by creating opportunities that build confidence, instill passion, and transform lives.”

 

Right now, the 2023 Ernie DiMattia Emerging Young Artist Awards for the writing of an original 15-minute one-act play is accepting submissions.

Submissions and applications are due on February 1, 2023, by 5 p.m.

 

The Palace Theatre also offers “A Sense of Direction”

 

“A Sense of Direction” is a complimentary program for 10 students. Meets will take place at The Palace Theatre on four Saturdays, from February 5, 2023, to March 18, 2023.

 

Students grades 9th-12th are welcome to apply to the program. They just must be able to commit to all four sessions.

   

Students will receive top-notch advice on how to “break into the business.”

Rich Forum

 

The Rich Forum originally opened in 1992, with five main features: Truglia Theatre, Leonhardt Studio, Mercede Promenade, Rossi Salon, and Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Gallery.

 

The Rich Forum is also known as the Stamford Media Center, which is operated by NBCUniversal. Since 2009, the Rich Forum has been the broadcast location for Jerry Springer, Maury, and The Steve Wilkos Show.

 

Together with the Palace Theatre, this collection is commonly known as the Stamford Center for the Arts.

  • The Kweskin Theatre (a 184-seat traditional auditorium)
  • And The Dressing Room Theatre (a 100-seat cabaret-style, 3/4 thrust stage venue)

 

Curtain Call has been the recipient of several awards, showing how much they mean to the community and how well their productions are produced.

 

These awards include: 

  • The Governor’s Award for Excellence in Culture & Tourism
  • An ACE Award from the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County
  • The area’s Best Local Theatre 10 years in a row

 

They’ve put on shows that include Cabaret, Groundhog Day: The Musical, The Wizard of Oz, and She Loves Me.
